Mark joined Blue Chip in 2001. A digital media pioneer, Mark is one of several entrepreneurs in the mid-90s that put together the essential infrastructure of online media.
Prior to joining Blue Chip, Mark was the founder and CEO of @plan, a successful Blue Chip II portfolio company. @plan became the industry standard market planning software system for online advertising and online retailing. Under Mark’s leadership, @plan completed a successful IPO and was sold to DoubleClick for $100 million.
In the late 1980’s Mark founded Inforum, which became the industry standard market planning software system for hospitals and other large healthcare institutions. Inforum also completed a successful IPO and was sold for $150 million to Medstat. Previously, Mark was an executive vice president with Ericson Marketing Communications, an advertising agency.
Mark founded the Media & Marketing Technology Council, a NYC-based forum of leading digital marketing entrepreneurs, senior ad agency execs, and reps from elite legacy media companies. MMTC is a unique, proprietary, source of digital marketing deal flow, which has led to a number of Blue Chip investments such as, Genesis Media, Kinetic Social and x+1, which was just sold to Rocket Fuel for $230 million, 3x its $72 million annual revenue.
He was educated at Northwestern and Vanderbilt, resides in Darien, Connecticut with his wife, Heather, a Presbyterian minister and Executive Director of Greenwich Center for Hope and Renewal, graduate of Princeton Theological Seminary. Mark has three children ages 12 to 25, the oldest with an investment bank on Wall Street.
